Inspiration

Before I started Melanin Luster, I was having serious issues with my natural hair.  It all started when I decided I needed to do something different with my hair regimen because my hair was very dry.  I started purchasing all of the well known hair care products on the market to put moisture in my hair not realizing my hair and scalp wouldn't like some of the ingredients found in hair products.  Over a period of 2-3 years I was losing hair daily.  I didn't realize I had a problem until I could no longer twist or braid my hair.  I bought more products to correct the problem which did not work.  I decided I needed to find out what was going on with my hair.  I decided to do research to determine why I was loosing my hair and why my scalp was always sore.  For some reason, I didn't believe it was genetic baldness or baldness due to age. 

After much research and testing my hair with the ingredients in the products I was using, I learned my scalp and hair doesn't like Coconut Oil.  Most of the products I was using contained Coconut Oil. I learned that Coconut Oil clogged my pores, damaged my hair follicles and caused a severe case of scalp inflammation and Alopecia.  In addition to the chemicals that are used in most hair care products, this was the reason I was going bald and the reason my scalp was sore.  I have dry sensitive skin, therefore I have a dry sensitive scalp that must be free of Coconut Oil, chemicals and fragrance.  I have learned that you have to focus on having a healthy scalp.  A healthy scalp grows healthy hair.

I no longer have faith in nor trust any of the hair care products on the market.  I grew up doing my own hair so I felt confident I could learn what I needed to do to restore and repair my scalp and grow my hair back.  I felt I had no choice but to create my own hair care products without Coconut Oil and chemicals usually found in hair care products.  It took a lot of time researching, testing and coming up with the right formula's and ingredients for the best and fastest results. To my surprise, the products I created reversed my Alopecia 100%. Because of my amazing results, I realized I needed to share these amazing products with the world.  Melanin Luster was born.
